SUBJECT:    Requests for Legal Opinions

PURPOSE:    To provide Legal Opinions to all members of the City Council.

BACKGROUND:    The City Attorneys office receives numerous requests for legal opinions. Often, individual Council members request legal opinion.  Normally the subject matter is of interest to the Council as a whole and the information should be available to all members.

POLICY/
PROCEDURES:    Copies of Legal Opinions prepared by the City Attorneys Office in response to a question by a member of the City Council shall be provided to all Council members.

REFERENCES:    None.

EFFECTIVE DATE/
RESCISSION:    This policy became effective May 9, 1995.  This version updates     the format and assigns a new number to Council Policy No 6.
